My Daily Skin Routine As An Aesthetics Nurse And Mum Of Two
Let’s be honest
When you’re a parent just having a shower some days is hard. Cramming all the essentials into one day and running at a million miles an hour, skincare is the last thing that people prioritise, even me sometimes. Even writing this, I have my 8 week old baby in arms and all I’ve used is some make up remover, a quick cleanse and a thick night cream. So if anything I know my skin is clean and hydrated. On the days where I have more time I will add a few more steps in there but for the meantime my priority for my skin is sleep, as little stress as possible and hydration.
This is one of my biggest recommendations, to ensure you have balance. Don’t get stressed about all of the products you’re told are essential because the likelyhood is they don’t do anything or just clash with what you have already, causing your skin barrier to become damaged and irritated. Just have a few staple pieces that you might update along the way as your skin evolves through life. Pair this with biorejuvenation treatments and you’ll see some insane results.
.Whether you’re just starting your skincare journey or looking to refine your routine, these are the steps (and products) I recommend.
🌤 Morning Routine
My morning skincare routine focuses on protecting my skin from the day ahead — pollution, UV, and stress. I keep it simple, effective, and consistent.
1. Cleanse – Gentle and Refreshing
I start with a mild, hydrating cleanser to remove overnight oils without stripping my skin barrier.
Tip: Look for ingredients like glycerin or ceramides — they hydrate while cleansing.

2. Vitamin C Serum — Brighten and Protect
Vitamin C is my non-negotiable. It helps brighten the complexion, even skin tone, and defend against free radical damage throughout the day.
I like to use a lightweight, medical-grade serum that absorbs quickly and layers well under SPF.

3. Moisturiser — Lock in Hydration
A good moisturiser supports the skin barrier and helps makeup apply beautifully.
If you have oily or combination skin, opt for a gel-cream; if you’re drier, go for a richer formula.
4. SPF — Always, Always SPF
As an aesthetics nurse, I can’t emphasise this enough: SPF is the single most effective anti-ageing product you’ll ever use.
I wear SPF 50 daily, even when it’s cloudy — it protects against premature ageing and pigmentation.

Evening Routine
At night, my focus shifts to cleansing, repairing, and restoring.
1. Double Cleanse — Remove the Day
This keeps pores clear and prevents dullness without harsh scrubbing.
I always double cleanse: first with an oil or balm to dissolve makeup and SPF, then a gentle cleanser to remove residue.

2. Active Treatment — Retinol or Exfoliating Acids
Depending on the night, I rotate between a mild retinol or an exfoliating acid (like lactic or glycolic).
Retinol supports collagen and skin renewal, while acids smooth texture and brighten tone.
Never use both on the same night — alternate to avoid irritation.

3. Nourishing Moisturiser or Overnight Mask
At the end of the day, I focus on barrier repair — richer textures, peptides, or ceramides.
This is what keeps my skin calm, hydrated, and plump even after busy days.

Professional Touches I Swear By
Every few months, I complement my routine with clinic treatments like:
Skin boosters for hydration and glow Light chemical peels to smooth texture Microneedling to boost collagen
These treatments enhance what I do at home and give longer-lasting results. If you’re local, you can soon book these in my aesthetic clinic- launch is on the 1st of March My Skincare Philosophy
As an aesthetic nurse I would suggest, the key principles should be know your skin type, without this theres no foundation to build your routine on. Identify any problem areas. My steps and products are tailored to my skins specific needs so yours will likely be different. Think about how much time and money you are able to invest in your routine. Try to stick to your routine and be consistent. This is the only way you’re going to know if anything is working.
For me, skincare should be evidence-based, sustainable, and enjoyable. You don’t need a shelf full of products — just the right ones, used consistently.
As a nurse and mum, I believe in routines that fit real life. It’s about caring for your skin from the inside out — with nutrition, hydration, movement, and good sleep supporting what you apply topically.
